A Place Called Lake Arrowhead

This beautiful place which we call home
has a fragrance and beauty all of it's own.
With grand old pines majestic and tall 
where maples and birch trees reveal their colors in fall.
Where deer roam free, and chipmunks play, 
and turkeys find refuge on a cold winter day.
Where squirrels come to visit and birds flock around
the snow-covered feeders with seeds abound.
Where eagles and hawks and geese grace the sky,
and where you can hear the loons eerie cry. 
Where ducks raise their families and bask in the sun
with the little ones quacking and having great fun.
Where a heron may wade on the waters edge
in hope to find a fish for his evening catch.
Where raccoons come calling on a warm spring night
and doves are cooing at first morning light.
It's a place where a gentle warm summer breeze
caresses the branches and leaves of the trees.
Where lily pads grow with blossoms white
and dragonflies dance on beams of light.
Where spiders are busy in the evening sun
and dewdrops are glistening in webs they have spun.
Where beavers are common, though sometimes a pest,
they are also God's creatures just like all the rest.
Serene and peaceful the evening falls
and most critters sleep except for the frogs.
The Keepers are we to love and to care
for what happens in the future to this place we share.
Where moonlight cast's shadows over lakes like glass,
and the dew of twilight descends over the grass.
Where a white misty veil lifts up from the water, 
and a new day begins in natures great order.
So be kind to this land and all God's creations,
and the waters within for the next generations.
Let's always remember and never forget that we are
the guardians of this place called Lake Arrowhead.
